One day, several months into my illness, I received a card in the mail. It was from a lady at my church whom I barely knew. It was a simple printed card, lovely pink florals on the front. No frills, no glitter, no embellishments. But to me, it was the most precious thing I had received in a very long time. She simply wrote how beautiful my smile is and how it lights up the room. She didn't even know my last name. She knew I lived with my parents now and had their address. At that time, I was extremely unwell and severely jaundiced. She made my day. It made my week! I mustered up all the strength I could and I made her a card! She is now my dear friend. We still send cards back and forth! (That was only 3 months ago)
For several months, I could hardly walk. I could barely move! So, I watched hours and hours of YouTube videos about paper crafting and painting. Then, in September, my mother was asked to make cards for everyone at our church to sign and to send to the shut-ins from surrounding congregations. She bought cardstock and ephemera. I bought a paper trimmer, scoreboard, and the ever-so-popular Art Glitter Glue (sorry, Ms. Sherry!). Before we knew it, we made 26 cards! I learned so much, and I am finally able to put the knowledge I gained to work!
It is on my heart to mention the ladies who unknowingly helped to get me through the toughest months of my life:
- Diane with Diane Antone Studio
- Sherry with The Posh Paper Lady
- Desiree with Include a Thank You
- Robin with Really Robin Stamps
So, yes, I truly believe that every occasion deserves to be cherished and remembered. And just like a rare gem, each card in our collection is meticulously handcrafted, ensuring that no two are exactly alike. Our cards are more than just a means of communication; they are a tangible expression of love, gratitude, and celebration. Because I know first-hand how such a small, simple gesture of sending a greeting card can mean the world to someone. You never know how much showing a little kindness can impact a person.
When you choose a card from 31 Rubies Designs, you're not just giving a piece of paper – you're giving a piece of your heart.
