Why Handmade Greeting Cards in This Digital World?

I was very sick this year. It's not an exaggeration to say I almost died. CIDP wreaked havoc on my body. I should have (would have) died, really, if it weren't for mercy & healing from our Lord and Savior and for such devotion & care from my dear mother.

One day, several months into my illness, I received a card in the mail. It was from a lady at my church whom I barely knew. It was a simple printed card, lovely pink florals on the front. No frills, no glitter, no embellishments. But to me, it was the most precious thing I had received in a very long time. She simply wrote how beautiful my smile is and how it lights up the room. She didn't even know my last name. She knew I lived with my parents now and had their address. At that time, I was extremely unwell and severely jaundiced. She made my day. It made my week! I mustered up all the strength I could and I made her a card! She is now my dear friend. We still send cards back and forth! (That was only 3 months ago)

For several months, I could hardly walk. I could barely move! So, I watched hours and hours of YouTube videos about paper crafting and painting. Then, in September, my mother was asked to make cards for everyone at our church to sign and to send to the shut-ins from surrounding congregations. She bought cardstock and ephemera. I bought a paper trimmer, scoreboard, and the ever-so-popular Art Glitter Glue (sorry, Ms. Sherry!). Before we knew it, we made 26 cards! I learned so much, and I am finally able to put the knowledge I gained to work!

Because I know first-hand how such a small, simple gesture of sending a greeting card can mean the world to someone. You never know how much showing a little kindness can impact a person.
